Early liver failure markers
This Division is devoted to the study of the mechanisms underlying liver diseases and to the development of new therapeutic and diagnostic strategies. The focus is on chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, biliary disorders and liver cancer. Special attention is paid to the application of gene therapy tools to treat hepatic disorders including hepatocellular carcinoma, viral hepatitis, metabolic diseases and liver cirrhosis. Immunotherapy of chronic viral hepatitis and liver cancer and application of biochemical tests for the detection of liver fibrosis and hepatic tumors are also areas of interest.
The institutions with which CIMA has international agreements include the Pasteur Institute in Paris, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, the Sektion Gentherapie in the University of Ulm, the University of Bordeaux and the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam.
